TMU [tee•ehm•yoo] n. Tresidder Memorial Union. Dedicated in memory of Donald Bertrand Tresidder (AB '19, MD '27, the fourth president of Stanford University), this inner campus building adjacent to White Plaza acts as a student center or hub housing student groups, meeting rooms, administrative offices, a computer lab, eateries and other service businesses, like banks. Its large outdoor patio area often hosts live performances and is a go to spot for Al Fresco dining. *var., also known as Tresidder Union or simply Tresidder. *ref.: Donald B. Tresidder died suddenly of a heart attack while serving as university president. In what turned out to be his last address to the Academic Council, Tresidder had called for the creation of a new student union, and so the university built one, in his memory.
