UIT [yoo·eye·tee] n. University IT (as in information technology), Stanford's in-house IT department.
NOTE: Oddly enough, UIT now (circa Fall 2018) outsources the management of a sensitive personal data IT project, namely StanfordWho, to a random startup company (according to a news report). Guess doing actual IT when you're the IT department is too taxing. Should a third-party have unfiltered access to all this personal data on Stanfordians? Hmm.
